This metal has many different variations and offshoots that will be listed here in this post, with prices, costs, and benefits when used. Purchase mithril in many locations, even down in the depths and the core.

There are many different variations of the world's most plentiful magical resource, Mithril. Often told apart by color and sheen, these mithril variations all offer different effects in addition to being lightweight and removing/lessening armor penalties like disadvantage(5e) or other penalties(3.5e)

Standard Mithril - Dark Bluish Green, Blue Sheen - 350gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by making armor count as one armor style lower(Ex: heavy mithril armor counts as medium armor)

Black Mithril - Dark Grey with shadowy black sheen - 600gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by making armor count as one armor style lower(Ex: heavy mithril armor counts as medium armor)

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Necrotic damage resistance 2

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Necrotic damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 1 additional necrotic damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 1d4-1d10 necrotic damage on an attack(3.5e) depending on the level of the weapon

Red Mithril - Dark, blood red with black sheen - 600gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by making armor count as one armor style lower(Ex: heavy mithril armor counts as medium armor)

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Fire damage resistance 2-5 depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Fire damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2 additional fire damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 1d4-1d10 fire damage on an attack(3.5e) depending on the level up the weapon

Green Mithril - Dark, pine green with matte grey sheen - 600gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by making armor count as one armor style lower(Ex: heavy mithril armor counts as medium armor)

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Poison damage resistance 2-5 depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Poison damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2 additional Poison damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

Blue Mithril - Dark, deep sea blue with a silver sheen - 600gp per ingot

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Cold damage resistance 2-5 depending on the level of the armor

White Mithril - Pale Ivory White with a golden sheen - 600gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by making armor count as one armor style lower(Ex: heavy mithril armor counts as medium armor)

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Radiant damage resistance 2-5 depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Radiant damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2 additional Radiant damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 1d4-1d10 Radiant damage on an attack(3.5e) depending on the level of the weapon

Void Mithril - Pitch Black, reflects no light with no sheen - 1,200gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by entirely removing armor check penalties

  • Armor Bonus: Armor made from Void Mithril gives the wearer a +10 to stealth(5e)/hide(3.5e) checks, and a +15 when attempting to Stealth(5e)/Hide(3.5e) in shadows

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Necrotic and Cold damage resistance 2-5 each depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Necrotic and Cold damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2d4 additional damage die of Necrotic damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 2d4 damage die of Necrotic damage on an attack(3.5e)

Frostbite Mithril - Icy blue with a glowing white snowy sheen - 1,200gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by entirely removing armor check penalties

  • Armor Bonus: Armor made from Frostbite Mithril gives the wearer immunity to subzero temperatures and harsh snowy climates, and grants the wearer the ability to freeze objects with their touch. When used on a hostile target, the wearer of the mithril can make a grapple check. On a successful grapple, the target takes 3d6 cold damage and becomes petrified until thawed.

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 2 damage die of Cold damage on an attack(3.5e)

Emberworked Mithril - Fiery Red with gold sheen - 1,200gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by entirely removing armor check penalties

  • Armor Bonus: Armor made from Emberwork Mithril grants the wearer the ability to cast Fireball(5e/3.5e), Caster level base 8(3.5e) once per day

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Fire and Radiant damage resistance 2-5 each depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Fire and Radiant damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2d4 additional damage die of Fire damage damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 2 damage die of Fire damage on an attack(3.5e)

Direworked Mithril - Dark Gray with a light green sheen - 1,200gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by entirely removing armor check penalties

  • Armor Bonus: Armor made from Direworked Mithril grants the wearer the ability to take no damage from a melee attack 1/day and grants the wearer immunity to Sundering(3.5e)

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Fire and Force damage resistance 2-5 each depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Fire and Force damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2d4 additional damage die of Force damage damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 2 damage die of Force damage on an attack(3.5e)

Necraal Mithril - Dark Black with a dark forest green sheen - 1,200gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by entirely removing armor check penalties

  • Armor Bonus: Armor made from Necraal Mithril grants the wearer the ability to teleport through shadows as a bonus action(5e) or Movement Action(3.5e) to a location within 30ft of you that is covered in shadows of medium size or larger.

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Necrotic and Acid resistance 2-5 each depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Necrotic and Acid damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2d4 additional damage die of Acid damage damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 2 damage die of Acid damage on an attack(3.5e)

Deepwell Mithril - Dark Blue with sea green sheen - 1,500gp per ingot

  • Removes armor penalty of disadvantage in DnD 5e

  • Lessens armor penalty of negatives in 3.5e by entirely removing armor check penalties

  • Armor Bonus: Armor made from Deepwell Mithril grants the wearer the ability to breathe underwater, become unaffected by deep waters and water pressure, and the wearer's body stronger with it's connection to the fathomless depths, granting the wearer a +4 bonus to their constitution score.

  • Resistance(3.5e): Gives Cold and Force resistance 2-5 each depending on the level of the armor

  • Resistance(5e): Gives Cold and Force damage resistance of 1/2 damage(5e)

  • Weapons(5e) deal 2d4 additional damage die of Cold damage damage on an attack with a melee or ranged weapon(5e)

  • Weapons(3.5e) deal an additional 2 damage die of Cold damage on an attack(3.5e)
