7th Age - The Dread Tide Era - 9,500AB -10,000AB
In this age, the attempts of Old Ethrell to become its own superpower were interrupted by a terrifying event. The Dread Tide, the arrival of the Mithiians. These dangerous half undead raiders and giants appeared on a regular day with no warning, no conversations, no treaties, and appeared on the backs of their country sized living gods, appearing and completely destroying the northwestern reaches of the supercontinent of old Ethrell.
The devastation, the tsunami’s, the earthquakes, and torrential snow, hail, and storms that appeared with the Mithiians devastated eastern abirria, killed millions of Ethrellians, and obliterated the peace the world basked in.
Their raiders and colossal ships of ice, iron, and steel ravaged the naval powers, and the Ibnans mobilized to fight the Mithiians. Aevorr took this disturbance to strike hard at Abirria, launching full scale invasion, and the strained relations with the founding nations of Abirra, Brotto, and Ibanakar broke completely, the Old Ethrellians abandoned by all of their founding ancestral nations except Ibanakar.
Ibanakar mobilized their entire military, thousands of warships, over 10 millions soldiers, and thousands and thousands of archdruids to combat the Mithiian threat. To the world's dismay and terror, the people of Abraeas’Dor learned that these people did not appear on simply colossal creatures, but divine entities, who did not fail to protect their people. The war was quick, their raiders swept through Ethrell and Abirria, but the shock of their arrival only lasted a few years, three to be exact, when Brotto began to engage them in full force. The Ibnans who first mobilized suffered a horrendous defeat at the hands of the Mithiians, fighting not only against an unknown and advanced enemy, but also great gods that sank entire fleets. The addition of their gods in the war aided the Mithiians in crushing the entire Ibnan military force, with their own gods fighting back the waves and saving the world from an apocalyptic flood. The gods of Abraeas’Dor convinced the Mithiian gods to cease their rampage, and the Ibnans fled from the world, only a few pockets of their faith remaining on Ethrell. This began the Ibnan’s Isolationism which persists to the present day.
The retaliation against the Mithiians by Brotto and what was available from Abirria forced the Mithiians, their great gods stopped in their tracks by the Brottoan, Abirrian, and Alithean gods, to settle with a shaky peace treaty under threat of direct divine intervention. The greatest threat of intervention appeared from the least likely gods, the Alithean gods, who had only known ethrell and their people had only known ethrell, and would not stand to see their people destroyed.
Thus began a strenuous peace born from the threat of complete annihilation.
By 9510AB, The Mithiians had settled with a new mission, their shaky peace with Abirria and Ethrell still in place as the Alithean Gods and the new generation of Alithean people constantly watching the Mithiians actions and movements. The Alithean gods had quickly taken on a more wrathful aspect, a protector domain, and took control over old Ethrell’s temples in only the short few years of war. This time period is known to the Alitheans as The Alithean Dawn in the history books of the current day, their rise still remembered even after The Ascension and the Sundering.
By 9650AB, The Alithean Gods had the vast majority of worshippers among the Ethrellians, and the Ibnan gods and their people had not stepped back into the world, their people slowly recovering from the destruction of their glorious era of rule and power. The Abirrian gods welcomed the Alithean gods into the fold, gaining a new respect for the young Alithean gods, who had been mostly ignored and not viewed as true gods. The Abirrians shift in their supreme god Arsham’s personality and domains had made the Abirrians too weak to fight off the Mithiians upon their arrival, and they applauded the Alithean gods for being ready and willing enough to stand for their people with their threat of annihilation that stopped the Mithiians in the end. The Mithiians had begun their new quest in full, their mages finding ancient pathways to their original plane, a plane they claim was entirely decimated by their own divine war that left them with so few deities. The Alithean’s supreme god, Alithen, had threatened annihilation himself, and the Mithiians new they would need their own supreme goddess Minthiia if they were to proceed with the invasion of Abraeas’Dor, sparking an era of planar travel for the Mithiians that placated them while tensions were still so high on Abraeas’Dor.
By 9890AB, The Mithiians had failed to find their great goddess Minthiia, and their eagerness for war had dwindled, their people long forgetting their original intent upon arriving in Abraeas’Dor, and had become part of Abraeas’Dor, their mission remaining the same, but their motivations changed.
By 10,000AB, Ethrell had regained its power once more, now led by the Alithean Gods, and small companies of Ibnans returned to Ethrell, more cautious and peaceful than they had been at the height of their power. The Brottoans proposed a new treaty with Ethrell, beginning a more open conversation about Ethrell gaining independence. Ethrell won its independence under these new terms, the terms not ruled by national pride and aided by the Abirrians, who had been willing to support Ethrell before the Mithiians arrived and broke the world once again.
This begins the second golden age of change in Abraeas’Dor, the greatest height of Old Ethrell, the 8th Age of Abraeas’Dor.
